Welcome to the Linsly School!
Thank you for your interest in our school. For more than two centuries, Linsly has successfully educated and shaped the lives of thousands of students. If you are exploring Linsly as a prospective student or parent, we hope this website gives you a better understanding of the school and provides insights into the vast opportunities and experiences we offer.
Founded in 1814, the Linsly School is a private, independent day and boarding school for students in grades 5 through 12. Located in Wheeling, West Virginia, we offer college preparatory classes that combine the traditional values of hard work, respect, honor, honesty, and self-discipline within a challenging academic program designed to unlock the potential of each student.
The family-like atmosphere at our school helps students grow and develop under the guidance of faculty members who know them by name and care about their future. Our strong academic program provides students with an emphasis on foundational skills, a challenging college preparatory curriculum, and a commitment to lifelong learning necessary for success in college and beyond.
With 100% college placement, Linsly's record as an excellent college preparatory academy speaks for itself. We understand that education is more than test scores and college acceptance letters. Every day, our students live many of life's most important principles: responsibility, commitment, time management, sportsmanship, maturity, and even disappointment.
Comprehensive in nature, the Linsly experience extends well beyond the requirements of the classroom. Linsly encourages students to develop their physical skills and realize individual interests through a well-managed program of athletics and extracurricular activities. Linsly’s "no cut / no quit" policy ensures a spot for all students on athletic teams, and requires them to honor their commitments. A respect for competition and sportsmanship, an appreciation for sound physical health, and a willingness to persevere through challenges are values promoted throughout Linsly’s athletic program. Complementing the athletic program, Linsly’s clubs, organizations, and interest groups present students with meaningful opportunities to make connections and contribute to the school community.
My wife Aimee and I are proud to be a part of this wonderful school, and we are honored to call Linsly home.
Sincerely,
Justin Zimmerman
