St. Benedict Preparatory School (SBPS) prepares young people from preschool through high school for life-long learning through academic excellence based on individual needs and talents, spiritual formation, personal growth and a commitment to a multicultural community life and Christian stewardship. The primary goal of SBPS is to create a Catholic educational community, stressing the development of Christian character and leadership through a better understanding of the teachings and heritage of the Roman Catholic faith. As a school, we strive for excellence in education and develop the whole person—spiritually, intellectually, morally, socially, artistically and physically. To develop the whole person, we work with the parish, the home and the community. The parent, as primary educator of the child, is responsible for working with staff members to reinforce the teachings of the church and the school. The community of students, faculty, staff and clergy share experiences that promote growth in faith and an awareness of one's commitment to God, neighbor and self. The children of SBPS are separate and unique individuals, approaching the world of learning at various levels of development, natural ability and backgrounds. The teaching community addresses these levels through challenging opportunities for the students, stressing the curriculum that recognizes student body cultural diversity and incorporating a variety of teaching techniques and materials. Students are expected to take advantage of learning opportunities and to discover his/her unique God-given talents and abilities.

One of only five such affiliated schools in Chicago, including St. Benedict High School, this partnership offers many student and teacher benefits, leading to improved student learning and achievement. Not only do we offer the best of the best DePaul students working to complete their clinical work requirements, DePaul professors assist SBPS teachers as well as DePaul students. DePaul teacher interns assist in the classroom, increasing the individual attention delivered to each student. · On average, the teacher-student ratio is 1:7 or less at least twice a week. ·Our teachers engage in weekly professional development with DePaul Faculty. · Our students receive educational program support in areas of reading, math, science and social studies from DePaul University. · This partnership is in part supported by Chicago Community Trust. · Your child will attend school where the teachers are life-long learners, too!
