School Overview

Data & methodology

Evaluation method

Ranking Basis

Data Scale: FindingSchool leverages an extensive data set that exceeds that of similar rankings, ensuring accurate and relevant evaluations through well-defined weight distributions and scoring mechanisms.

Weight Distribution: We gathered feedback from thousands of families and consulted over 50 industry experts to create ranking weights tailored to the needs of Asian students.

Scoring Mechanism: Each of the 46 distinct data points is evaluated using unique mathematical models, scoring based on its position within the overall data distribution.

Basis for Ranking: Instead of absolute values, we focus on relative differences in data. There is no fixed score threshold for separating schools; instead, the “admission cutoff” is adjusted annually based on data trends, similar to college entrance exams.

Evaluation Mechanism

The school page currently displays an evaluation card that includes an overall rating and ratings across five key categories, totaling 46 data points. The five categories are: Geographic Community, Academic Strength, Matriculation Level, Extracurricular Activities, and FindingSchool Reviews. Visitors can easily view the overall score and ratings for each dimension (ranging from A+ to C). For boarding schools, detailed total score rankings are also included

The data used for evaluations and rankings comes from three primary sources: official school data, public data, and user-submitted data on FindingSchool.

Scoring Mechanism

The entire scoring system is based on mathematical models derived from statistical analysis of samples from hundreds of schools across various levels. Each data point receives a corresponding rating based on its percentile position within the overall predicted distribution.

  • In the boarding school evaluation:: A- and above account for 45% of the total, B- and above account for 40%, C accounts for 15%.

  • In the day school evaluation: A- and above account for 30% of the total, B- and above account for 51%, C and others account for 19%.

2025 Evaluation Methodology

1. [30% - Matriculation Dimension] : Ivy League admission rate, admission rate for Top 25 National Universities and Top 5 Liberal Arts Colleges, admission rate for Top 50 National Universities and Top 10 Liberal Arts Colleges, admission rate for Top 100 National Universities and Top 25 Liberal Arts Colleges, along with a summary of historical admissions data.

2. 3. [14% - Extracurricular Activities]: Alumni donation rate, number of clubs and activities, ratings for competitive sports teams, and ratings for arts programs.

4. [12% - FindingSchool Reviews] : FindingSchool website rating, review comments on FindingSchool, and historical rating trends.

Since 1950, Santa Catalina has been a leader in education for young women. We know that inside each student there is a purpose waiting to be fulfilled. At Santa Catalina, our students already have a head start.

It’s a fact that girls’ school graduates have a significant edge in the world over their coed peers, and the advantages of Santa Catalina reach far beyond statistics. You’ll have a safe place to focus and explore your passions. You’ll have a beautiful campus on which to make lasting friendships and feel comfortable with your place in the world.

Santa Catalina is a place where you can take risks, knowing people here will support you. You’ll discover talents, interests, and skills you never knew existed within yourself. You’ll be engaged – intellectually, creatively, athletically, and spiritually – to help you see things in new ways. Join one of our interscholastic athletic teams or maybe the hip-hop dance group. Run for a Student Senate position, become a member of Amnesty International, or help in the organic garden. The extracurricular opportunities are limited only by your imagination.

Our curriculum will encourage you to discover DaVinci, explore environmental issues, and debate everything from poetry to political issues to celebrity pop culture. Your class options will be diverse and innovative, and could include Global Conflict and Resolution in the 21st Century, Peace and Justice, World Literature, or Mandarin Chinese. Engaged learning can include a satellite news broadcast in French, or a guest scientist from Stanford University. The curriculum will expand your mind and stimulate your curiosity.

We teach the way girls learn most effectively, often with open discussion and group projects. Our faculty is available, involved, and interested in you. They know the point of school is not so much what you learn, as what learning allows you to accomplish in the world when you leave.
Your personal and academic journey will include preparation for life beyond our campus. Our college counseling program will support your journey, and your college decisions will be informed by your academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular experiences. When you take that next step, you join generations of young women who began inventing their futures at Santa Catalina and are now realizing their dreams.

If you’re looking for a school that helps you discover the person you are meant to become – Santa Catalina is the place to begin.
