Bloomington Developmental Learning Center Inc. was founded in 1973 by parents and teachers who were bound by similar child-care philosophies. BDLC is one of the largest and oldest child-care centers in Monroe County. It is becoming fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, licensed by the State of Indiana and is a participant in Paths to Quality. BDLC provides an educational, child-centered, family-oriented, multicultural child-care program. The Center's goal is to encourage each child to develop his or her unique potential. BDLC has always been a not-for-profit organization with a Board of Directors composed of parents and community members. BDLC maintains close ties with the community in order to respond to child care needs and issues. As an established community institution, BDLC, Inc. is proud to have provides over three decades of high-quality early childhood education in the Bloomington area. As a not-for-profit child-care provider, BDLC fosters the emotional, social, and educational development of children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. At BDLC, children, families, staff, and teachers work together in a diverse, caring, and community-oriented environment to develop the unique potential of every child. The purpose of the Bloomington Developmental Learning Center is to provide an educational, child-centered, family-oriented, multi-ethnic child care program to our member families. BDLC provides individualized attention through a self-paced environmental exploration with appropriate guided instruction. The Center's goal is to allow each individual to develop his or her unique physical, cognitive and social-affective potentials. We encourage self-reliance, independence, and respect for others. A variety of materials, activities, and equipment is made available to the children, creating an environment for growth and learning.
