The Susquehanna School is a rigorous learning environment dedicated to the development of individual children in the context of community. We emphasize developmentally appropriate learning that is conceptual and experiential. Our integrated curriculum of language arts, mathematics, social studies, sciences, foreign language and the creative arts emerges directly from teachers' study of individual children, class groups, and the student population as a whole. It is designed by teachers to appropriately support the growth of each child with specific attention paid to intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and aesthetic development. We focus on traditional academic disciplines through meaningful problem-solving and research experiences, teaching children to use their knowledge to engage with the world. Our curriculum, while child-centered, is teacher-directed.
