The Chesapeake Center for Youth Development, a charitable 501(c) organization founded in 1974, strives to help youth achieve developmental and educational milestones. CCYD children and youth are faced with severe obstacles to life success, including Poverty, Single-parent families, Missed educational opportunities, Limited community and personal resources. Chesapeake Alternative School provides year-round Secondary, Pre-career, Pre-GED and GED education to 125 students, ages 13 to 19, each year. Students are referred by youth serving governmental agencies including the Department of Juvenile Services. Students reside throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area. The Chesapeake Center Mission is to help young people in the Greater Baltimore region overcome barriers to living wholesome, productive lives by providing high quality and comprehensive services through programs and partnerships with other organizations.
