Overview

The Academy of St. Therese is a non-diocesan, non-profit private academy teaching the Catholic Faith from Kindergarten to grade 8, administered and staffed by Catholic laymen, incorporated under the laws of Connecticut. Independent of the Diocese of Norwich, the school is not an agency of and is in no way connected or affiliated with the Diocese of Norwich. It is open to all students of any race, color, nationality or ethnic origin willing to learn the Catholic Faith. Our curriculum is based principally on the texts published by Kolbe Academy but also Seton, Emmanuel, and Mother of Divine Grace. Our student teacher ratio is 7 to 1. All of our classes incorporate the Ignatian Method indicating an individualistic approach that is both age and skills appropriate. It also emphasizes the use of inquiry. The mission of Academy of St. Therese is to develop our students morally, mentally and physically; to educate young people to think and to possess skills and courage to defend the truths of their faith; to provide and maintain a well-disciplined environment in which religious truths are learned, loved and lived with courage and self-confidence.
